Saturday, April 24, 2021

On Saturday, the Indonesian Navy stated that its submarine KRI Nanggala (402), which had lost contact 3 AM local time on Wednesday, had sunk and cracked off in the Bali Strait during a training exercise, and declared the submarine’s crew of 53 dead, after items were found from the vessel over the course of the two days. The items included a bottle of grease, prayer mats and a piece of metal pipe.

Military chief Hadi Tjahjanto said that there was an oil spill in the area and the debris were clear signs that the submarine had sunk.
